What Causes Discomfort In The Upper Chest?

Hi I have been having upper chest discomfort near the left armpit and about 1.5 inches below the collarbone line, more achy when I am mobile or standing from a prone position. Not much discomfort when I am sitting or lying down. Have been a smoker for 13 years and currently trying to quit smoking. I drink twice a week. No hard drug use, no prescription medications.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are many medical conditions related to chest pain.

I recommend to do an electrocardiogram to exclude cardiac issues.

Another possible cause can be acid reflux or muscular issues.

You should follow up with your doctor for specific examinations to confirm the cause and take proper treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
