This occurs in the evening, upper abdomen feels distended and hard, generally after eating. Have been on a low carb diet for about 8 months. No pain, some belching, No change in stools, no nausea vomiting. Do take naproxsen once a day in AM for back pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

Naproxen on a daily basis can cause various side effects and result in irritation of the gastric mucosa. I would recommend a more suitable and permanent solution to the back pain and not popping of pills.

It could be possible that the naproxen itself has caused enough damage to your gastric mucosa possibly resulting in the development of a gastric ulcer. Please drink plenty of water, use an antacid, avoid the pain killers, and also add either gelusil or sucralfate to your daily regimen for a duration of at least 3-6 months.

Best wishes.
