What Causes Distorted Vision?

Ii have been getting distortions in my vision. It appears as a line or a box shaped wrinkle in my vision that travels across the field of vision. It comes and goes and there is no pain that I can notice. I have some heart problems and nave never been diagnosed with high pressure in my eyes during eye exams. It can happen in either eye, but seems to be mostly in the left eye.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Distortions of lines on your vision or metamorphopsia is a symptom seen when there is a swelling in the macular region of you retina. This can be easily ascertained once an eye exam is done and supplemented by an OCT scan of your eye. The treatment of the same will depend on what the cause and will be determined only after a complete eye exam.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
