What Causes Dizziness After A Dental Procedure?

Hello Dr. Rynne,
I'm a 65year old male, somewhat healthy. I finished a dental procedure, to have my bite adjusted due to a sore jaw, right side. After the procedure where I was lying with my head lowered in the dental chair below the height of my legs for about 15 minutes, I had to stay sitting up for a few minutes for I felt dizzy. I was able to walk to their waiting area where I sat down again for about 10 minutes, feeling the same dizziness. After my 3 minute drive home, where I've been for the last two and a half hours, I still feel about the same, dizzy and unsteady. I ate breakfast before going to the dentist, had a good nights sleep, have rested since coming home, and have done nothing out of the ordinary today. Any ideas of my condition and/or suggestions of what to do and/or not to do. Thanks for your input!

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Dizziness after a dental procedure can be due to change in position after long times lying in lowered down position.
It can be due to Postural hypotension that can be due to change in position from lying down to sitting to standing causing lowering of blood pressure..
Too much anxiety during procedure or fatigue can be a cause..
Take proper nutritious meals and sufficient rest..
Drink sufficient water and avoid stress..
If you do not find your symptoms improving still or they continue to worsen immediately consult an Emergency room..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
