Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am a woman 59 years of age. Going through menopause and have hyperthyroidism. Why do I get dizzy every time I eat? I am fine other than that, except when I eat. I am concerned and baffled. What would cause that? Sorry I do not have the money or a cc. But thank you for your time.
Dizziness after food may have few causes and need assessment. The main cause is posted prandial hypotension, that is a drop in BP after a meal.
So you should check your BP after food, it gets low after food. Sometimes sugar drop in response to food, especially if associated with sweating, tremors etc though it's not common.
Sometimes food may cause allergy to cause dizziness. So a detailed assessment is needed.
For the time being, I would suggest taking food very slowly, get up very slowly after food, take food many but less food, and take more fluid with food.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
