What Causes Dizziness After Waking Up Post Root Canal Surgery?

Yes thank you I had a severe treatment on an upper right tooth in the form of a root canal. The tooth had cracked but I lived with it for 5 days which made me feel v unwell. The Dentist proposed root canal and during the procedure said that my nerve infrastructure was v complex - that was almost a month ago I have been been waking up dizzy (lasting 30 seconds) for the last 3 weeks - I am going back to see my dentist tomorrow...

Hello,

I can understand your concern. However, feeling of dizziness has no relation with the root canal treatment. Root canal of tooth does have nerve supply but the nerves are very small fibers and does not have any connection with the nerves in brains or direct effect on brain functions.

It is just a coincidence that you have been through root canal treatment a month ago and feeling dizziness while waking up since 3 weeks. The dizziness might be due to fluctuations in the blood pressure when you change posture. When you stand up, the pressure must be decreasing to the extent that you feel dizziness.

You can visit your dentist tomorrow for the follow up regarding the root canal procedure, but the dizziness problem would be solved by seeing a physician and ruling out anemia, blood pressure changes, vitamin deficiencies etc.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
