A 71 year old male has been vomiting green bile looking emesis. No high fever just low grade, has dizziness when tries to stand ,unable to take liquids since early AM . Had the super flu shot for seniors on Wednesday which he never had received that type of flu shot. His vomit this afternoon is yellow colored. When I ask him if he hurts anywhere he denies any pain .

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We need to do an upper GI study to rule out any causes for this emesis. meanwhile you can give him intravenous nutrition if he is unable to take anything orally to maintain proper homeostasis in the body. kindly get a blood test done for sodium and potassium also. low grade fever could also indicate some chronic infection but without tests it is difficult to say.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
