Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness And Blurred Vision While On Invokana For Diabetes?
As I was diagnosed with diabetes, I was prescribed Invokana in themorning with 2 glasses of water, and Glycomet at night after dinner. Since I have brought my blood sugar level down to between 80 and 120 and do not like the side effects of the drugs such as dizziness, sore gums, blurred vision, tiredness, I have stopped the medication and now I control the blood sugar levels with a strict diet. Am I doing the right thing ?
Based on the history you have shared, strict diet control with diabetes is always recommend as it decreases the medications demand and help to decrease insulin resistance and help to maintain sugar levels.
However, a sugar chart to keep a record of fasting sugars and two-hour post-meal for a week should be kept and discussed with your primary care physician.
If one medication is intolerable or associated with unwanted side effects safer alternatives are always available which can be used instead.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
