What Causes Dizziness And Bumps On The Legs And Abdomen?

Husband as a very red, itchy, bumpy rash on leg and knee. Thought it was poison ivy, saw a doctor and got some topical antibiotic or steroid cream. Now, the bumps and itchiness is spreading to his abdomin and upper arms. It is very uncomfortable. Does not look like shingles. He is feeling dizzy today as well, extremely tired, etc. Any idea? His doctor said they might have to look at fungal options

Hi.
As per your case history you are having probably a viral exanthem.
Dizziness, lethargy, joint pain, fever may be present along with rashes in viral infections.
My treatment advice is -
1. Take plenty of fluids and food rich in vitamin C.
2. Take a vitamin c supplement daily once and anti-allergic medicine like levocetrizine twice daily.
3. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected skin twice daily.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, higher antihistamines and oral steroid given only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
MBBS, DDVL.
