What Causes Dizziness And Dilated Pupils After A Head Trauma?
My sn in law was attacked by 3 men. He has a big knot on his forhead, 2 black eyes, and a nig knot behind his right ear. He says it feels like there is fluid behind his left eye and he keeps getting dizzy. He went to work and they sent him home because when he leaned over, he fell. When I check the dilation of his eyes, his pupils are tiny but when I shine the light in them, they get bigger. With the light in his eyes, they are about the normal size but when I take away light, they are constricted again. He has no insurance and 4 kids. Cant get him to the doctor. Is this common or do we need to be worried? This happened 3 days ago. The 2nd day is when he tried to return to work and fell.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
All the symptoms you have mentioned can be due to serious internal injuries including intracranial bleed. You have to take him to ER at the earliest and get a CT scan done to rule out any intracranial bleed or contusion. If something detected in the CT scan take him to a neurosurgeon as soon as possible.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
