What Causes Dizziness And Ear Pain While Having Diabetes?

hi my name is joe,im 55yrs old i have diabeteas and i smoke....i recently went to the er for feeling dizzy or lightheaded. my sugar was 68, and they said all my blood work was fine. i also have a slight pain that comes and goes in my ear. what can i do?

Dear joe..
Did you say 68mg/dl? If so there is a possibility that you are having mild episodes of hypoglycemia giving you a light headed feeling. I totally agree that in diabetes we go by numbers (values prescribed by ADA & WHO- American diabetes association & World health organization). Very often we come across patients who are in borderline values having typical symptoms of hypoglycemia. If you again get such symptoms have 5gms of glucose and see if your symptoms disappear. if so it is Hypoglycemia and you just have to fine tune your medicine.
Next coming to your ear pain it might be because of congestion. You ENT doctor can view with an otoscope and come to a conclusion regarding the issue.
