What Causes Dizziness And Fainting?

My daughter is 16 years old and very active (she plays competition soccer at the highest level in our state and is on her high school track team). On occasion she will stand up or be walking and just kind of collapse. She is conscious but she says that she just felt dizzy and light headed. It happened a few months ago and then she hasn t had an episode since then but it has started to happen again the last few days. She isn t pale, or complaining of pain. I m not sure what to do at this point.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Dizziness and fainting may be due to anemia or hypoglycemia or dehydration or cardiac or neurological problems etcetera.

Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your physician who will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
