What Causes Dizziness And Leg Swelling Post Intake Of Co Q-10 And Magnesium?

Hi Doc, Good evening. I have a question. I take Co Q-10 100mg and magnesium500mg at the same time because I have just been told I am pre-diabetic. but I get dizzy, my legs get swollen and I have a problem with my vision almost immediately. what could be the problem, please? and what are others supplements I can take to help me improve my health?

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Co Q-10 is an antioxidant made in the body and is needed for basic cell function. It is a substance similar to vitamins. The use of CO Q-10 to manage diabetes or pre-diabetes has not yet been established but it however enhances normal body functioning.Feeling dizzy is a side effect of Co Q-10.Also,Co Q 10 has been known to lower blood pressure and when used with other medications that lower blood pressure may give you symptom similar to what you just had.
Magnesium on the other hand is a mineral that is important in bone structure and other metabolic processes in the body.It is best prescribed after a simple magnesium blood test.Possible magnesium overdose is rare as your body readily excretes it in urine when any excess and your symptoms are not those of an overdose.
A possible magnesium and Co Q-10 interaction could be considered but not not an established fact.
I will advise you have your blood sugar and blood pressure checked. You may see the Doctor after your check to judge the need for your supplements.
I will also advise you have your diet under control and get into regular physical exercise as these will be the first step to managing diabetes.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
