What Causes Dizziness And Light Sensitivity While On Dexamethasone?

I have a 16 yr old male son who was to hospital Sunday due to fever x 3 days, sore throat, dizziness and vomiting. He was treated with IV fluids, IV Gravol and Dexamethasone for his throat. He was then sent home with antibiotics for throat. He has continued to sleep since Thurs, drinking fluids, eating very little and today has complaints of headache, light sensitivity/strained eyes and dizziness/light headedness. He also has began having diarrhea. Would this require a return to hospital or might this be a flu, he has been sick since Thursday and does not seem to be getting any better

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The most common reason is side effect of antibiotic and steroid giving combined symptoms narrated here.

I would recommend to call his pediatrician office and discuss the matter immediately without delay.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
