What Causes Dizziness And Lightheadedness Every Morning In A Thyroid Patient?

I wake up in the morning and I just don t feel good I feel light headed and when I bend I get dizzy. I have phoraisis on the front top of my head and it itches when I have it and then I scratch it it and it will bleed momentarialy. My neck is sore I do have thyroid nodules on both sides and the last time it was checked last year the doctor did it with no type of numbing and my neck hasn t felt the same since. My main question is the way I feel in the morning. I Have type 2 Diabetes and cronic kidney disease 3Jo

Hello.

Thanks for writing to HCM.

You seem to have postural hypotension i.e. temporary decrease in the blood supply to the brain due to fall in the blood pressure on standing up from a lying down position.

This may be a result of either an autonomic neuropathy i.e. affection of the nerves due to long-standing diabetes, especially not well controlled. This is difficult to reverse as the damage to the nerves has already been done.

Another possibility is that this is the result of some of your medications. Diabetic patients with kidney disease are commonly prescribed medications which protect the kidney and heart and also cause some degree of lowering of the blood pressure. This may result in postural hypotension sometimes.
