What Causes Dizziness And Lightheadedness?

Hi my Fiance is feeling dizzy and light headed,he fell at a yard sale and now has a swollen ankle and we went to lunch and he was still pretty dizzy and he was starring off and I said his name 3 times and he finally answered an said he couldn t see anything but white. I got him home and took his BP and its 81/56,he says he feels weird,what should I do?

Hello,

Dizziness and lightheadedness that lead to a fall is an important symptom of many conditions like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo BPPV, cervical vertigo or head extension vertigo, orthostatic hypotension dizziness when a person stands up from sitting or lying positions, transient ischemic attack or mini stroke, alcohol intoxication, or substance abuse.

The patient must have a detailed clinical examination and few tests like MRI brain and spinal cord, and ear testing for vertigo. Only once we arrive at diagnosis, we can treat as per the cause. Please do take your fiancee to a neuro-physician for a specific diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
