What Causes Dizziness And Low Blood Pressure While On Metoprolol Succinate?

I am currently taking 40 mg. Metoprolol succinate, twice a day. The prescription is to lessen my attacks of SVT. I had a rather severe dizzy spell, took my blood pressure, and it was 107 over 70. I m considering cutting back Metropol to 40 mg. once a day, for a few days to see what happens. Opinions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear. Metoprolol is an antihypertensive drug which comes under the category of beta blockers. It causes reduction in your blood pressure and in turn may cause giddiness because of low blood pressure. Sometimes the doctor will prescribe the drug because the benefit of taking the drug outweighs the risk. Do not decrease or increase the drug on your own. Kindly consult your doctor for the same.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
With warm regards
