What Causes Dizziness And Muscle Ache While On Methyldopa?
My husband is taking Methyldopa 500mg bid it was just increased from 250mg bid. He is now having some dizziness when out in the sun and some muscle pain. As he adjust to the increase in the dosing will the side effect go away? It is controlling his BP.

The life thretning side effect of methyldopa are epatitis, myocarditis and hemolytic anemia. These side effects cause discontinuation of therapy.
But, the symotomatic side effect like dizziness, sedation, lethargy or bodyaches should be treated accordingly. Maintain dose between 200 to 1000 mg per day. There is no need to worry about these effects.
