What Causes Dizziness And Nausea?

I have been experiencing dizziness and nausea for one week. I have been taking topomax for years as part of a of a pain control plan. I did not notice that I had run out of them and when I did, I had no problems. After being without the med for about a week, I realized the script had not been refilled. I thought I could drop them completely as my chronic pain from arthritis and fibromyalgia had significantly decreased. Then the dizziness began . Could this be a result of the cessation of the drug? I have had a history of dizziness as a result of optical migraines but these instances have been of much more occasional nature and much briefer in duration.

Hello,

Dizziness cab be caused from topamax withdrawal. The first few days you might still feel fine due to some of the medication in your body but later patients might feel withdrawal symptoms which are several and different patients feel different side effects and dizziness is one of them.

It might be best to talk with your doctor and discuss the fact that you would like to wean from topamax and make a plan together how to gradually reduce dose and give you an easier step down from topamax use and less possible side effects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
