What Causes Dizziness And Tremors Every Morning In An Elderly Woman?

Mother, aged 93 years old has dizziness and shakiness upon awakening in the morning. She is on beta blocker, ace inhibitor, furosemide, calcium channel blocker , digoxin, warfarin, for a-fib and hypertension. She has been reminded to sit on side of bed before arising. The physician has said her labs are within normal limits. Any further suggestions?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Some of her medications might be the culprit of her current situation as these drugs cause peripheral pooling of blood due to their vaso-dilatory effect. Upon awakening counsel her to first sit for a while on her bed side. I suggest you to visit your doctor again to revise the treatment for her hypertension.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
