Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness And Weakness After Using Steroids For Asthma?
My husband has Asthma. Had a recent attack and was put in a course of steroids. Finished those last night. Felt good except for lingering cough. Today felt tired when he came home from work. Restrd then got up to go to bathroom, blacked out for a few seconds, dizzy, been in bed. Still dizzy and weak.
If your husband used the steroid for more than 7-10 days then he should not just stop it but gradually taper it down. Steroids need a gradual decrease of dose if used for more than a week because they may inhibit the glands that produce steroids in our body and they may take a while to reactivate and this may be dangerous. If stopped abruptly, weakness, dizziness, tiredness, etc, may happen.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
