What Causes Dizziness For A Hundred Year Old Woman?
My mum is 100, she is not on any long term medication. Recently she has been having dizzy spells with nausea. She is not at all active but we try to get her to walk a little, but she sometimes feels faint, gets sweaty and clammy. About 10 days ago, she had a full blood screen done and everything was fine except for slightly elevated cholestrol levels but it was not a fasting blood screen. What could be causing the dizziness? Should we take her to the doc again?
Hello, There could be many causes of this so a trip to the doctor again may be helpful. Make sure she is drinking enough water since being slightly dehydrated can cause this problem. Also make sure that when she gets up from lying down or sitting that she stands for a few minutes holding on to something so that her body can adjust to the positional changes. If she is lying down she needs to sit for a few minutes before standing then when she stands she needs to hold on to something and stand still before walking. If these adjustments do not work make sure she sees her doctor again soon. Regards
