my husband has been suffering from dizziness, headaches and gets shaky. this has happened at least 3 to 4 times during the last 4 months. it can happen when he is mowing the lawn, gets out of the chair or wakes up in the morning he doesn t have to be doing anything. he is 47 next week. stopped smoking about a year ago and really isn t an exerciser. can t get into a dr. until next week just trying to figure out what this could possibly be.
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
He may be deconditioned but complications of dehydration and less than optimal nutrition or not eating at proper times could cause him to be suffering from hypoglycemia which can cause a drop in blood pressure and these symptoms to come on. He also may have started a new medication (for blood pressure maybe??) that could be causing excessive blood pressure lowering. Make him drink LOTS of fluids (avoid caffeine and alcohol) and when he sees the doctor next week ask specifically, if he is candidate for a good exercise program adopted by the American Heart Association. If your husband is willing to engage and he doesn't have any medical reasons not to then, you will the difference in his performance and condition inside of 2 weeks.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
