What Causes Dizziness In A Person With Severe Deviated Septum?

Hello29 years old, male. Height 5 feet 11 inches, weight is 75 kg sI have a deviated septum and had a CT scan of PNS done. It revealed a severe deviated septum on the left nostril. There is also a 1cm polyp/mucous retention cyst on the left maxillary sinus. I made a visit to my ENT and he said since I have no breathing difficulty, no need for a surgery to correct the deviated septum. My PROBLEM is dizziness. Usually its pronounced in places which are air-conditioned like at the place where I work. Even in non-AC places, I experience slight dizziness - a feeling that I might fall or the head spins just a little. I have been adviced Vertin by my ENT - he is of the opinion, that because of NSD, the pressure is shifting to the inner ear and he suspects an inflammation of the inner ear. What do you suggest? Thanks, Michael

Hello,

Deviation of septum do not cause dizziness. You need to have through clinical examination including VNG for proper diagnosis. You may have Transient Ischemia or BPPV or it could be non-specific too sometime

Advice:
1. Visit and ENT surgeon
2. Have your eyes examined for visual acuity
3. Have audiometry and VNG for having diagnostic clues

General advice:
1. Avoid straneous work and/or staring at screens for long
2. Don't use any aids in the ear for entertainment
3. Have proper balanced diet.
4. Do some meditation or yoga
5. Have some physical exercise that help in rehabilitating the balance

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
