What Causes Dizziness In The Mornings?

What could be causing dizziness when I first get out of bed in the morning? It resolves after a couple of minutes. This happens only when rising from a prone position. When I get up from sitting I m fine. A blood pressure check this morning at the dentist said my BP was 110/83. And when I got up from the dentist s chair I was indeed mildly dizzy, having been laid almost flat for 40 minutes.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Vertigo on standing position may occur due to postural hypotension. Other possibilities are benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), vestibular neuronitis, labyrinthitis et cetera.

Use tablet Vertin 16 mg thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved, please consult your ENT specialist, he/she will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
