What Causes Dizziness, Nausea And Tinnitus?

Went to after hours clinic Saturday morning. Dr. said I have a inter ear virtual infection. No medical treatment, let it run its course. Symptoms- it began fri night- dizziness, nausea, fuzzness, dullness in Ears, some ringing, no ear drainage. Yearly physical 2.2.16 came back- results were excellent. Today: Blood pressure 143/84 6 1 , 245Lbs, 49yrs old, great health. Very active, non drinking, non smoking, no drugs. Taking otc motion sickness med. ??? Continue, wait, or see my family physician

Hi,

Tinnitus is a common issue and most casuses are benign and temporary. However it this lasts for a longer period then it should be evaluated.

Tinnitus can occur due to causes like chronic ear infection, perforated eardrum, Eustachian tube dysfunction, Meniere's disease, TMJ disorders, Acoustic Neuroma etc.

Tinnitus is not a disease in itself but it is a symptom that indicates that there is some underlying illness.

I would suggest you consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Audiometry, x Ray MRI can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.

In case if ringing does not resolve then you can be advised medicines like Tricyclic Anti-depressant like Amitryptiline, anti anxiety medication like Alprazolam, as well as Multivitamin supplements can be advised.
