Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an episode where I was looking behind me, then turned my head forward, and a strange sensation went up the back of my head, followed by brief dizziness, feeling lightheaded. I m 40, female, only medicine is a low dose HTN med and vitamins. Any thoughts as to what caused this? It freaked me out.
I think the sudden change of posture of the head may have caused the symptoms. This is paroxysmal positional vertigo. It is not a very worrisome condition and you need not be tense. However, you need to be careful and avoid changing the position of the head quickly.
If the symptoms are persistent then you may try a prescription of beta-histidine. Once the symptoms are settled, you will need to avoid turning head suddenly. I have tried to make it as simple as possible. Feel free to ask a follow up query if you need more details. If you think this was helpful/useful, do indicate this too.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saumya Mittal, Diabetologist
