What Causes Dizziness While Suffering From Chest Congestion And Cold?

My step mother (age92) has had a chest cold for several days and stood up recently and was very dizzy and almost fell over. She was sure she was having a stroke but the Care facility nurse took her vitals and said she was fine other than a high pulse. The family consensus was she was dihydrated! She had not been eating or drinking enough. We gave her Ensure, Pedialyte and later dinner. My question is: could she have a bladder infection?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear. Welcome to Healthcaremagic. I read your query and I understand your concern. I think this situation doesn't seem a uti. It is a orthostatic hypotension. You have to see the medications that she is taking and maybe any of them gives this side effects or even dehydration gives it. Just try to keep her hydrated and also give her help not to let her fall. Take care.
Hope my answer was helpful. If yes, vote helpful. Regards, Dr Olgeta Xhufka.
