What Causes Dizziness While Withdrawing From Celexa?

Hello, I have been taking celexa (10) for almost 4 years. I am in the process of going off of it. and my family Dr. had me alternate days for 2 weeks and the off 4 weeks ago. I am still getting fuzzy head and and uncomfortable stomach. I assume it is still withdrawal. Will it last much longer? I also have been taking Lorazepam .5 for 2 years at night. Could that be the problem? Any encouragement would help. Thank you. Joyce

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Celexa is an antidepressant drug. For 4 years. Considering dose & duration of consumption. You should be free of withdrawal symptoms within few weeks of withdrawal. maximum being 3 months. To cope with the symptoms, you should:

- Eat healthy food in small multiple servings( consuming minimum calories according to your age & height ).

- Avoid alcohol, smoking.

- Do regular exercises daily for 45 minutes.

- Have a sound sleep for 8 hours daily. If no relief in 3 months. consult your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
