What Causes Dizziness?

Hi, I feel very dizzy for the past 2 days - when I am in bed and turning from one side to other, i get a very heavy wave of dizziness that the whole room spins. Also when looking down or reaching from something on the floor I feel the pull down effect. I am not sure what can it be?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
This could be BPPV. That is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. As the name indicates its benign that is harmless. Many a times subsides on its own.
I recommend the following.
1) Repositioning exercises, the definative and effective treatment for BPPV. You need to consult an ENT doctor for the same.
2) Antivertigo medications like tablet betahistine for symptomatic relief.
3) Be aware of the possibility of losing your balance, which can lead to falling and serious injury.
4) Sit down immediately when you feel dizzy.
5) Use good lighting if you get up at night.
You will be fine.
Hope I have answered your question. If you any questions, I am happy to help.
Wish you a speedy recovery and good health.
Regards,
Dr Paparaja S MBBS MS
