Hi,

Labyrinthitis is an inflammation of the inner ear that can cause symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, and balance problems. If the condition does not improve over time, it is considered uncompensated.

While there is no cure for labyrinthitis, there are treatments that can help manage the symptoms. Vestibular rehabilitation therapy is a kind of physical therapy that helps train the brain to compensate for the symptoms caused by inner ear dysfunction. It involves specific exercises and movements to improve balance and reduce dizziness.

In addition to VRT, medication can also be prescribed to manage symptoms. Valium (diazepam) is a type of medication that can help reduce dizziness and anxiety. However, as you mentioned, it is important to be cautious with this medication as it can be habit-forming and lead to dependence.

It is important to continue working with your healthcare provider to manage your symptoms and find a treatment plan that works best for you. In some cases, referral to a specialist such as a neurologist or an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) doctor may be necessary for further evaluation and treatment. It is also important to make lifestyle changes such as getting enough rest and avoiding triggers that worsen symptoms.

If you experience any new or worsening symptoms such as severe dizziness, loss of balance, or changes in vision or hearing, it is important to seek medical attention immediately as these can be signs of a more serious condition.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
