Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom is 68 years old and occasionally she gets dizzy spells. Last night we measured her blood pressure and it was 166/86. What do we need to do with those occasional spikes in numbers since most of the time the range is b/w 136/80 or so. Does she needs medication even though she doesn t always have the high blood pressure. thanks.
The symptoms you describe may be due to higher blood pressure. I will suggest you to take pressure at different times of the day on different days and make a chart, if reading are on higher side consider medication. An alternative means is to get 24 ambulatory BP monitoring done and based on the report take a call. Presently start with salt restriction in food and some aerobic exercise.
