What Causes Drooping Of The Mouth On The Left Side?
In Juy I had a sudden onset of difficulty speaking which resolved itself in a few days. I had slight mouth drooping to the left. My Dr. thought be related to stress incident which happed the day before .I was on trazodone 100mgm q hs which he discontined. Yesterday I experienced same thing and conttinues today. My blood pressure was130/70 and pulse 66.Could these be TIA'S.BP remains normal.NO headache or other neuro deficit. People have difficulty understanding me
As per your complain the most common cause of unilateral drooping of one side of the mouth can be due to facial nerve palsy which can occurs due to either trauma, inflammation or viral d to it can cause infection of the facial nerve that is a seventh cranial nerve and supplies muscles of face. Any disorder related to it can cause paralysis of the affected side.. As it has just started you can consult a NeuroPhysician and get evaluated and in case if facial nerve problem is suspected an MRI can help in confirming the cause and the physician can advise you to take steroids, vitamin B-complex supplements and cold compresses on the affected side for faster recovery.. If there is viral infection anti-viral medication like Acyclovir can be given..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
