What Causes Dry And Numb Feeling In Sinuses And Ears?
I have an extremely dry, almost numbing feeling sometimes in the back of my sinuses. I have had symptoms of a cough, which has gotten better over the last few weeks, dry tonge from time to time, dry gums on the inside top of my mouth. I do not have fever. My ears are very dry and itch sometimes. What could this possible be??
Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It looks like reduced secretions that is leading to dryness in the sinuses and also inside mouth.
Itchy ears can be due to infection while excessive dryness can also irritate the lining of the mucosa and make them itchy and inflamed.
Also an examination of the sinuses to check for infection should be done.
You should consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and an X-ray of sinuses should also be done.
For now you can chew sugar free chewing gums and suck lemon drops for stimulating saliva flow. You can also use oral lubricants like Oralgel. For nose and sinuses you can use Netipot and use saline nasal irrigation. Use Otogesic ear drops for ears.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
