What Causes Dry Cough And Sore Throat?

I m 31 weeks pregnant and I have gotten many viruses throughout this pregnancy. My most recent infection followed a Tdap shot I got last Thursday. I ve had a dry cough, sore throat, cankersores in my mouth that are very painful, and nasal congestion (clear, bloody mucus when I blow my nose) since last Friday. I started to feel better a couple days ago, but now my cough has gotten worse. It is dry, persistent, painful, and I taste a little blood when I cough. No chills/fever, just this cough that is very painful.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Dry cough and sore throat be due to virus infection or allergic or acid reflux or post nasal drip etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days.

Avoid cool drinks and frozen water. Avoid smoking and alcohol intake.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
