It appears to be a case of
Sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is of 2 types
1)Obstructive-where soft tissues in oral cavity like tonsils,
adenoids, soft
palate, pharyngeal muscles collapse on the airway resulting in obstruction and breathlessness
2)Central- where brain fails to send signals to chest muscles to keep breathing.
out of these Obstructive type is the commonest.
I would recommend water vapor inhalation just before sleep, air humidifier to decrease airway inflammation, sleeping on your side, exercises for strengthening of throat muscles.
CPAP masks, other breathing devices, implants, dental devices are other treatment options available.
Also visit an
ENT specialist to check for tonsil or adenoid inflammation.
