What Causes Dry, Cracked And Discolored Skin On The Neck?

I have dry, cracked, discoloration skin on my neck. This has never happened before so I am just worried of what it may be. Due to the dryness I feel a burning sensation. The skin is darker and thicker compared to my normal skin. Im just wondering if there is any over the counter ointments or creams that I can use to help heal my dry skin.
