Hello. Thank you for writing to us
Dandruff Or seborrheic
dermatitis is an important cause of scalp itching as well as increased hair shedding.
Controlling dandruff effectively would take care of itching as well as reduce hair fall.
The product that you intend to use is an OTC product.
The active ingredient against present in this product is tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is antifungal and therefore has antidandruff properties.
You may use it and it may prove effective in mild to moderate dandruff.
In addition I would also suggest you to use an antidandruff shampoo e.g
ketoconazole based shampoo every alternate days.
Nizoral is an OTC brand that contains 1% ketoconazole and would also be helpful in bring your dandruff and hair fall under control.
If these measures together prove ineffective and for severe and resistant dandruff I would suggest that you visit a
dermatologist.
Seborrheic dermatitis is one of a steroid responsive dermatoses.
Topical steroid lotions e.g mometasone furoate Or
clobetasol propionate lotion are effective in controlling dandruff and may be tried if your dandruff is resistant.
