What Causes Dry Flaky Patches Around A Mole On My Face?

hello. i have a small mole on my face. i went on a cruise a month ago. my face got a tiny tan (even though i used spf) but the area around my mole did not. today, it is lighter than the rest of the skin on my face and there are dry flaky patches around and on it.
