What Causes Dry Mouth After Taking Sudafed, Zyrtec And Allegra?
I am a healthy and active 58 y/o male with lots of allergies for which I take shots, sudafed, zyrtec or allegra, flonase and advair. Last May I started experiencing dry mouth, squishy tongue, sometimes sweet tongue, The tongue issues seem only to be on the right side. Also a tingling of the tongue. My wife says I sound like I m smacking gum and gulping. Family history of diabetes. I ve consulted my GP who suggested an ENT which I ve seen twice to no avail. Dentist has no answers either. What s my next move? What specialist should I consult.
Your symptoms are clear indication of side effects of the medication that you are taking.. Both anti allergics and steroids are commonly seen to cause dry mouth.. Squishy feeling and tingling can be due to dry.mouth or can be due to allergic reaction.. So my suggestion is to consult your Physician and discuss your problems. The physician can reduce the dose or frequency of the medication with which you can take it to reduce the severity of symptoms.. As of now to reduce dry mouth you can gargle with specialised mouth wash like Bioremediation. Chew sugar free chewing gum and such lemon drops.. You can also instil artificial saliva drops and mouth lubricating gels.. Also get your tongue checked for fungal infection which can cause squishy feeling and tingling..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
