Hi I have not been well since last september with nasal drainage sore throat and sinus which I have managed to control but recently the symptons have been getting worse I have had a constant cough and coughing up green muck a dry mouth which gets worse when I go to bed I have had 3 sets of antibiotics but when they stop a few days later the condition comes back my last visit to the doctors he said I had fluid in my ear so I asked for a full blood count chest xray and sputum and arthritus as my bones ache they have all come back ok but the Doctors said my white blood cells were on the border line, any suggestions on what else that can be done would hlep please.
It is possible that allergies may be contributing. This is the reason that the symptoms return when the course of antibiotics is complete because you are exposed to the stimulus.
Post nasal drip is the most common cause of persistent cough. It is usually caused by allergies and would also cause a sore throat.
The use of topical steroid nasal sprays and oral antihistamines may be helpful. A mucolytic which would help to break up the mucus and may also be helpful as well.
