What Causes Dry Mouth And Swelling In The Lips?

My daughter is having a issue on her mouth. Sometimes she gets dry mouth, which makes her drink a lot of water, what doesn't help and her mouth and lips swell, having sometimes blisters. She tried to test this reaction with different kind of food, but we didn't have a real pattern. Only that she gets really dursty and after that comes the swelling of her mouth.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Dry mouth and swelling of lips can be secondary to infection and if not any particular food, then it can be any ingredient of foods or medication, while environmental irritants can also be a cause..
She should also be checked for diabetes, hormonal problems..
For now to reduce dry mouth she can chew sugar free chewing gums, lemon drops and also gargle with specialised mouthwash like Biotene..
For swelling of lips she can take antihistamines like Benadryl and also do cool compresses over the lips..
Also get an allergy test done and if the allergen is ruled out avoid exposure to it to avoid recurrence..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
