Hi,

In persons with very high blood sugar, when the blood sugar starts to decrease slowly, it can be associated with symptoms such as you are describing.

Metformin causes stomach upset and constipation or diarrhea in some persons but it is not known to cause the symptoms, they are likely due to your slight changes in blood sugar.

The maximum dose of immediate-release metformin is 3g a day, you are currently at 1/3 of this dose. This can be increased to see if this would have any further changes in your blood sugar readings.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
