What Causes Dry Non Productive Cough With A Rattling Sound In The Chest When Breathing Out And Burning Eyes?

I have a very dry non productive cough with a little bit of a rattling sound extreme upper chest when breathing out, very sore, burning eyes, no fever, no nasal congestion, mild to off and on headache which I think is coming from the constant cough. This has been going on for about 3-4 days and getting increasingly worse.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of dry non productive cough with a rattling sound in the chest when breathing out and burning eyes. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query, in your case it seems to be due to infection of upper respiratory track and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test and blood test along with chest x-ray and CT scan of ear . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) along with decongestant and expectorant . Doctor may also refer you to cardiologist if he/she find problem to be due to cardiac problems .
