Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I suddenly have dry flakey skin on my chin, eye lids and the area below my nose and each side of my mouth. I ve been using the same skin care for twenty years and the make up I use now I ve been using for over a year. What can I do to heal what ever this is? I ve also am taking no new meds. The meds I m taking, Adderall, synthroid allergy meds have been taking them for years. Help Please.
Your symptom of dry flaky skin on chin, area below nose, on either side of mouth and eyelids is pointing towards Peri-orofacial Dermatitis.. It can be caused due to disturbances in microbial flora over the skin, bacterial infection, nasal and topical steroids, flouridated toothpastes, harsh chemical cosmetics, poor facial hygiene, hormonal imbalances etc.. I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and advise you to apply topically ointments containing Doxycycline, Metronidazole.. You can also be advised oral intake of erythromycin.. Ointments containing Azaelic acid,Pimecrolimus etc can help.. Avoid any skin cosmetic or steroid ointments.. Avoid excess sun exposure, use gel based sunscreen lotion..
Hope this helps..
Thanks and regards.
