What Causes Dryness And Congestion In Throat Along With Voice Hoarseness?
Hi can u help? I am suffering from a Dry sticky throat I have practically lost my voice the past 2 weeks every so often I can get a little bit of hard green flem n voice improves slightly but this coughing so hard it sometimes makes me sick I am now also coughing up orange hardish bits. I have,had this problem three times in the last four years,lasted 14 weeks at one point. Whats wrong with me help?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of dryness and congestion in throat along with voice hoarseness which are pointing towards upper respiratory tract infection , which can be caused by bacterial or viral infection. It could be due to laryngitis which leads to inflammation of vocal cards. Need not to worry. You should take steam inhalation along with vaporizers. Avoid hot, sharp, spicy food. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like viral culture test , throat swab test and blood test to confirm the diagnosis and rule out causes. You should go for get laryngoscopy as well. Doctor may prescribe anti bacterial amoxicillin or anti viral acyclovir depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestants . For now continue doing gargles and drink one spoon of honey mix with glass of lukewarm water.
