What Causes Dryness In Mouth And Vagina Post Intake Of Antibiotics?

I was on antibiotics for 10 days and had a relapse 4 days later. I was put on another antibiotic and prednisone for 5 days. I have had dry mouth and vaginal dryness and irritation since finishing the 2nd set of antibiotics. Is this thrush? Do I need to seek medical treatment or is there something I can get over the counter to help?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain dryness and irritation in mouth and vagina after taking a long course of antibiotics along with steroids can be most probably be due to oral and vaginal thrush that can commonly occur when you take a combination of antibiotic and steroid..

I would suggest you to consult a Gynaecologist and get evaluated and she can advise you to take oral antifungal medications like Nystatin mouthwash and clotrimazole lozenges..
Chewing sugarfree chewing gum and drinking plenty of water can help..
For Vaginal dryness you can be advised to apply antifungal vaginal cream like Clotrimazole to relieve dryness as well as infection..
Wear loose fitting undergarments and maintain a good hygiene..
