What Causes Dryness In The Nose?

I am a caretaker for a 74 year old man. He has one side of nose cauterized about a month and a half ago and he s still picking out real hard scabs out of it. But he wears oxygen and he was wondering if maybe the air (oxygen) is drying his nose out. Is this possible

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Dry nose is common while on oxygen. You can apply sesame seed oil to moisturize the nose. You can also attach a humidifier to the oxygen concentrator so that the oxygen that you inhale is high in moisture content.
