Hello and welcome to HCM,
The dull ache under the sternum could be due to cardiac problem.
Cardiac diseases can cause pain in the chest region.
Although there are many reasons for pain in chest region, cardiac cause needs to be ruled in first place.
Clinical assessment needs to be coupled with investigations like ECG, echocardiography and TMT test if required.
In case the cardiac investigations are within normal range, other causes for chest pain need to be ruled out like those pertaining to gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract etc.

Thanks and take care
