What Causes Dull And Echoed Hearing?

I had an emergency operation in Florida for perforated duodenal ulcer. During my stay in hospital I was put on Metoprolol 75mg b.d. Never had heart problems before. My superb hearing is now dull as if I am talking into a bucket and very echoy. Not due to see a Cardiologist until 11th March. Any ideas please - thank you. I am 72 Rosemary

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,
There are 2 possibilities.
1) Wax accumulation leading to blocked ear.
2) Ear infection.
Do not worry at all. Your hearing will be fine with the right treatment.
If it happens to be ear infection then you will need a course of antibiotics and nose drops.
If it happens to be wax then you will need wax desolving drops.
Please see an ENT for the diagnosis and treatment.
regards,
Dr Rajksihori.
